UEFA Women’s Champions League: Asisat Oshoala scores in Barcelona Femení’s impressive win against Man City

Asisat Oshoala scored and earned a penalty, as Barcelona Femení cruised to a 3-0 win of Manchester City Women in the first leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday.

The Nigerian’s first-half strike and further goals from Mariona Caldentey and Jenni Hermoso handed Lluís Cortés’ team a well-deserved victory at Stadio Brianteo.
Oshoala hit a first-time shot beyond goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck and into the back of the net after receiving a short pass from Caldentey. It has to be said, the Nigeria international should have scored earlier after finding her self in a one-on-one situation with Roebuck.

Eight minutes after the break, the hosts doubled their lead thanks to Caldentey, who fired in from the penalty spot after Oshoala was brought down in the City box.
Three minutes later, City had an opportunity to cut one back, but were denied by goalkeeper Sandra Paños, who palmed Chloe Kelley’s penalty behind for a corner.
And Hemerso put the the tie beyond the English team four minutes from time after the ball fell nicely to her after rebounding off the post.
Ahead of the second leg on March 31, Blaugrana are widely tipped to secure a semi-final spot.
