“Continental ambition still intact” – Usman Abdallah

Head coach of Wikki Tourists Usman Abdallah is unmoved by his team’s struggles and maintains that the target to take Wikki Tourists to a continental position remains evergreen.
The ex Enyimba FC gaffer made this known while reacting to questions on XL106.9FM Uyo’s Saturday evening show “Sports Extravaganza”.
On whether Wikki still have an eye on continental football, Abdallah says:
“Absolutely. The table toppers are only seven points ahead. When you look, we are not very far away, only that the points are closer.”
The “Giant Elephants” are thirteenth on the NPFL log after 16 games and will engage Kano Pillars on Sunday in Bauchi with Abdallah optimistic of a turnaround from this game.
“We have handled a team like Rivers. We have handled a team like Rangers; so it’s not going to be a problem. I am sure we will come out victorious. Our target now is to try and grab these three points against Pillars; and we have another home game against Katsina when we come back from Adamawa…so we have the target to get nine points from these three matches.
“We just want to be in a good position before the second round where every game will count.”
Promise Damala, Mohammed Idris Guda, Stanley Nwabali and Chinedu Udeagha have been Wikki’s standout performers this term and are some of the stars Abdallah relies on to help change the tides.
