Simeon Nwankwo extends scoring streak as Crotone suffer defeat at Napoli

Simeon Nwankwo extended his scoring streak to five games and took his league tally to 15 goals this season after netting a brace in Crotone’s 4-3 loss at Napoli.
The goals means Nwankwo has now racked up eight goals in his last five outings for Crotone, who sit bottom of the table.
It also moved the 28-year-old to fourth in the goalscoring charts, with only Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo, Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku and Atalanta striker Luis Muriel scoring more than the former Gil Vicente forward.

Nwankwo scored his first of the afternoon in the 25th minute, volleying in from close range to halve Napoli’s lead after goals from Lorenzo Insigne and fellow Nigeria international Victor Osimhen had given the hosts a 2-0 lead.

Victor Osimhen scored his fourth Serie A goal of the season against The Sharks

Dries Mertens did restore Napoli’s two- goal advantage with a brilliant freekick on 34 minutes, but three minutes after the break Nwankwo scored again to take the score to 3-2, and Junior Messias drew the visitors level.
However, with 18 minutes left to play, Giovanni Di Lorenzo found the bottom corner from inside the box  to earn Gerard Gattuso’s side a fourth straight win in the league, which helped them climb up to fourth in the standings — with a point clear of fifth-placed Juventus, who play Torino later.
