Enyimba’s Confederation Cup tie with Al Ittihad moved to Benghazi

Enyimba’s Confederation Cup additional second preliminary round first round tie against Al Ittihad, originally scheduled to hold in Tunis on 28 November, will be played in Benghazi this month.
CAF has ordered that the tie be held not later than 19 December and not earlier than 17 December.
However, the exact date and kick-off time for the match, according to a CAF ruling, will be determined by Al Ittihad.
The tie could not hold last month after the Aba side were denied entry into Tunisia — where the game was scheduled to take place — due to Covid-19-related travel restrictions.
In the aftermath of the setback, the two sides traded blames and rumours that they would meet once in a neutral venue — instead of the tie being played over two legs — began to spread.
However, the rumours proved false as CAF later ordered the two teams to go ahead with the second leg as scheduled.

Enyimba won the fixture 2-0 at Enyimba Stadium through goals from Sadiq Abubakar and Victor Mbaoma.
After that thrilling win, Finidi George’s men have turned their attention to the first leg fixture against the Libyan champions.
The two-time Champions League winners are due to depart Nigeria early next week ahead of the clash.
Consequently, their Nigeria Professional Football League opening-day clash with fellow Abia club Abia Warriors — which was due to hold on 19 December — has been postponed.
