Watford announce Maduka Okoye signing

Watford have confirmed the capture of goalkeeper Maduka Okoye from Eredivisie club Sparta Rotterdam on a five-and-a-half-year contract.
The 22-year-old — who moved to Rotterdam from German outfit Fortuna Düsseldorf II in July 2020 — has penned a long-term deal with The Hornets, which will expire in the summer of 2026.
However, the Nigeria international will remain at Sparta Stadion Het Kasteel for the rest of the season, having been loaned back to the Dutch club.

At the end of his loan, Okoye will move to Vicarge Road to join up with his international team-mates William Troost-Ekong, Emmanuel Dennis — and Peter Etebo, should the Hornets choose to activate the buy clause for the midfielder.
Okoye, 6ft 6in, has kept one clean sheet in 13 appearances for Sparta so far this season.
