Napoli set sights on Osimhen as Potential Milik Replacement

Nigeria international and Lille forward, Victor Osimhen has been identified by Napoli as a potential replacement for Polish striker, Arkadiuz Milik, who has expressed his intention to leave Stadio San Paolo in the summer.

Osimhen, who recently lost his father, is a top target for Napoli manager, Gennaro Gatuso, as he looks to rebuild his front-line, given the imminent summer departure of Milik — and possibly the duo of José Callejon and Hirving Lozano.

The 21-year-old striker moved to the French club last summer in a €12m deal from Wolfsburg after impressing on loan at Royal Charleroi.

After just a season at LOSC, the forward — who has four years left on his current contract — could leave France for Italy.

A Calciomercato report claims that the 21-year old has already agreed personal terms with Napoli sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, but the Italian club have yet to meet Lille’s €55m asking price, according to Sportmediaset.it.

Osimhen’s strength and brilliance in the final third have seen him notch 18 goals and six assists in 38 matches — including two in the Champions League — in his first season in Ligue 1, a feat that has not gone unnoticed by the Serie A side.

Lille have an excellent relationship with Napoli, the Naepolitano club were close to signing Nicolas Pepe before he joined Arsenal last summer.

Napoli chairman, Aurelio De Laurentis, who matched the €80m asking price for the player, claimed the Ivorian opted for the London club because they offered a higher salary.
