Galatasaray plan to offer Onyekuru permanent deal

Nigeria international forward Henry Onyekuru is set to be offered a permanent deal by Galatasaray, when his six-month loan from Monaco, winds up on June 30, 2020.
The Super Lïg club are preparing to offer €6m for the 22-year-old striker, a staggering €7.5m less than the transfer fee paid by the French club to acquire his signature from Everton last summer.
The 22-time Süper Lig champions, though, will have to battle it out with Olympiacos for the signature of the former Everton player, who has notched a goal and two assists in nine appearances in all competitions for the Yellow-Reds since a January loan switch from Monaco.
Reports in France, however, claim that the Istanbul side are confident of wrapping up a deal for the Nigerian, as they believe the Greek club will not be able to match the salary they are offering the Aspire Senegal alumnus.
Galatasaray manager, Fatih Terim is keen to extend his working relationship with the Nigerian, following Monaco’s plans to clear out several players from its squad.
Galatasaray, which has a close relationship with the Red and Whites, following Radamel Falcao’s transfer last year, plans to start negotiations in few weeks, according to Fanatik.tr.
Onyekuru started his professional career in 2015, when he joined KAS Eupen from Senegal-based Aspire Football Academy.
Over two seasons, the forward netted 31 goals in 60 matches in all competitions, before switching to Everton in July 2017 for €8m.
The Toffees immediately sent the then 20-year-old striker on a season-long loan to Anderlecht, where he netted 10 goals in 28 games and ended up winning the Belgium Super Cup title.
Galatasaray paid €800,000 to Everton to sign Onyekuru for another season-long loan in July 2018. The youngster became an instant hit, scoring 16 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions to help deliver the Turkey Super Lïg, Cup and the Super Cup titles to the Turk Telecom Arena.
After the two loan spells, Onyekuru, having been denied a work permit by the English authorities, parted company with the Toffees and penned a five-year contract with Monaco in August 2019, where he played just four games, before returning to Galatasaray for a second loan spell in a €750,000 six-month deal.
Onyekuru made his senior debut for Nigeria in a 3-0 friendly win over Togo on June 1, 2017, and scored his first Super Eagles goal 21 months later, during the 3-1 win over Seychelles in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
