AWCON 2022 first round qualifying draws announced


The draws for the first round of the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, which will feature 44 countries, have been released.
Conducted at CAF headquarters, Cairo, on Monday, the draws were broken down into six geographical groups to minimize travel distances.


 
It will see record winners Nigeriai face their arch rivals Ghana over two legs in the WAFU Zone B.

In the COSAFA Zone, Mozambique will play South Africa, who lost to Nigeria in the 2018 final.
The 2022 finals will hold in Morocco, and will see the competition expand from eight to twelve teams.
After the 2018 edition, the next tournament was scheduled to hold in 2020 but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the biennial competition had to be cancelled.
