Samuel Kalu set to miss Nigeria’s games against Benin and Lesotho

Samuel Kalu is expected to miss Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin and Lesotho this month after the Bordeaux forward picked up an injury at the weekend.
Kalu suffered a thigh injury during Bordeaux’s 3-1 win at Dijon on Sunday, and now looks set to withdraw from the Nigeria squad.

According to NFF sources, the 23-year-old is going to be replaced by Galatasaray winger Henry Onyekuru — one of the seven players named on the standby list.
Kalu, who has been integral to Gernot Rohr’s side since his debut in September 2018, has had an injury-plagued season.
Injuries have forced the former Gent player to miss a dozen games this season.
He was kept out of action for four weeks after suffering a knock while on international duty in October last year.
Kalu returned from the injury to score the winner against Rennes on November 20, but was sidelined for another six weeks after injuring his thigh in the game.
Bordeaux have yet to provide update on the winger’s latest injury, but sources in France suggest that the Abia-born player will be out for at least two weeks.
