MFM ARE THE BEST IN NIGERIA – ILECHUKWU
Mountain of Fire and Miracles FC coach Fidelis Ilechukwu claims his side are the best club in the Nigeria topflight.
The Lagos side, who have twice suffered 4-0 defeats this season, lost 2-0 to Akwa United in Uyo on Sunday.
Ilechukwu played down the potential impact of such defeats.
“MFM are still the best team in the Nigeria Professional Football League, so all those results (heavy defeats) don’t count to me as a coach,” he said.
“What counts to me as a coach is that the team did not do it right. And they have to go back home and do it right.”
The young coach believes he has a very good team, saying his side will defeat Akwa in the reverse fixture.
“I can’t agree that we lost to a better team. All I know is that Akwa have a good team and MFM have a good team. We’re all good teams.
“You’d agree with me that he (Akwa’s coach, Abdul Maikaba) is going to lose to us in our ground.”
The coach, who was named “Coach of the Month” in March, further said his club’s major target for the season is to win the league.
The Lagos club sit second in the table, trailing leaders Plateau United by two points.
