Nigerian teenager joins Bayern Munich World Squad
Bayern Munich have confirmed the addition of Nigerian teenager Treasure Odunze to their World Squad.
Odunze impressed Bayern Munich coaches during a training camp in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.
The German giants announced the youngster’s signing on Facebook, writing:
“The #FCBayernWorldSquad welcomes its latest addition from Nigeria!
“Treasure Odunze impressed our FC Bayern International Coaches at a training camp in Abuja and will join up with this year’s side, captained by Daniel Francis! Congratulations, Treasure!”
Inaugurated in 2021, the FC Bayern World Squad — run by Bayern Munich in collaboration with automakers Volkswagen — is made up of under-19 talents from around the world.
The project aims at giving select talents “the chance to move one step closer to fulfilling their dream of becoming professional footballers.”
Captained by former player of Abuja-based FC Hearts Daniel Francis, the team embarked on a training tour of Mexico in 2021.
This year, the squad will play against the Bayern Munich U19 team in the summer.
