Kano Pillars close in on Akwa United hotshots Adeyinka and Aniefiok

Kano Pillars are in advanced talks to sign Akwa United duo Adewale Adeyinka and Godspower Aniefiok.
After a disappointing campaign that saw them finish outside the CAF competitions qualification places, Sai Masu Gida are desperate to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
They have identified the Akwa United pair as their top targets and according to sources in Kano, deals for the two stars could be completed as early as next week.
Adeyinka, who joined the club in 2019, is rated as one of the best goalkeepers in the country after helping the Promise Keepers win their first-ever league title last season.
The 24-year-old looked set to stay at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium for at least another season but, apparently tempted by a big salary offer from Pillars, the Offa-born goalkeeper has decided to move to the Kano Pillars Stadium.
At Pillars, he will reportedly receive ₦700,000-a-month — which is nearly twice what he currently earns at Akwa United.

Godspower Aniefiok has fallen out with the Akwa United hierarchy

Pillars — who finished fifth in the NPFL last season — are also said to be on the verge of re-signing Aniefiok, who played for them in 2015 before moving to Tunisian side ES Sahel.
Aniefiok, according to 234football sources, wants to quit the two-time Aiteo Cup winners — despite only rejoining the club for a third spell less than two months ago — after falling out with the club’s hierarchy.
The former Nigeria U23 international was handed an indefinite suspension for his role during the protests over unpaid entitlements on the eve of Akwa United’s Champions League first preliminary round, second leg clash against CR Belouizdad.
Aniefiok — alongside Mfon Udoh, Otobong Effiong and Ubong Friday — reportedly led the rest of the Akwa United squad to demand for the payment of some outstanding entitlements in Algiers, less than 48 hours before the tie against the Algerian champions.
They threatened to boycott the game but later let go of their grudges after receiving confirmations of payments from the club.
In the end, they lost the match 2-0 — crashing out 2-1 on aggregate.
Following their exit from the competition, Kennedy Boboye’s side are now concentrating on preparations for the upcoming season.
Kennedy Boboye is set to sign a new one-year contract with Akwa United

Akwa United, who have offered Boboye a new one-year deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2021-21 season, have set their sights on securing continental football next season.
Addressing members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Akwa Ibom Chapter, on Tuesday, the club’s supremo Paul Bassey, said: “We must make sure that we return to the continent, and try to surpass our past record.”
