Super Eagles captain slams NPFL coaches for insulting players

Nigeria captain and Kano Pillars winger Ahmed Musa has expressed disappointment over the conduct of Nigeria Professional Football League coaches during league matches.
Speaking to Kano Pillars media after Sai Masu Gida’s league game against Katsina United at the Muhammadu Diko Stadium on Sunday, Musa described coaches’ insults on players as unprofessional.
“I’m not impressed with what I see over here [in the NPFL]. The coaching staff are insulting the players. That is not professional,” said Musa, who joined Pillars for a second spell in April.
The World Cup star added that the League Management Company (LMC) needs to take action against coaches who rain insults at professional footballers in the league.
“I think the LMC has to do more about this. You don’t have to wear the team’s colours and then insult the players in the team.”
Musa also promised to personally discuss the matter with the authorities.
“Definitely, I’m going to talk to the officials to see to this.”
Musa has made two starts and notched one assist since rejoining the Kano club.
Having penned a contract that excuses him from some away games, it was widely thought Musa would miss the Katsina United game.
However, the former Leicester City player travelled with the Pillars team and was listed in the starting line-up for the northwest derby, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Pillars took the lead in the 26th minute with Rabiu Ali finding the top corner with a brilliant freekick but eight minutes later, Rasheed Ahmed — who had earlier missed a penalty — scored to ensure a share of the spoils.
