Paul Onuachu crowned Pro League player of the season

Paul Onuachu has been named the Belgian Pro League Most Valuable Player for the 2020-21 season after playing a crucial role in Genk’s impressive league campaign.

The striker has taken the Belgian top-flight by storm this season, winning the Golden Bull Award after finishing the season as the top scorer with 33 goals in 38 league appearances.

Signed in August 2019 from FC Midtjylland, the Nigeria international ended the season as top scorer in the Belgian top-flight after netting 29 goals in the regular season and four in the Championship Play-offs to help the Blauw-Wit finish second.

The 26-year-old picked up more votes than Beerschot’s Raphael Holzhauser and Club Brugge forward Noa Lang, to claim the honour.

After such an impressive season that also saw the 6ft 7in striker help Genk win the Belgian League, it looks unlikely that Onuachu will remain in Belgium next season.

In recent weeks, the forward has been linked with a move to a host of top European clubs, including Liverpool and Lazio.
