Dakkada head coach Umar Danlami has showered praises on new signing Musa Basiru whose brace contributed to Dakkada’s thrilling 4-2 win over Rivers United on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Emmanuel Charles put Dakkada ahead with his first goal for the club before Nelson Esor scored twice in the space of five minutes — with his second coming in the 44th minute — to overturn the hosts’ lead.
But Basiru then stepped up just a minute after Esor completed his double to nod home Unwana Asuquo’s delightful cross to ensure that the home side headed into the break level.
The ex-Kada City star then got on the end of Isaac George’s perfect delivery for his second of the evening before Christian Ekong completed the comeback with a well-taken free-kick that caught goalkeeper Ospino Egbe napping.

Basiru will thereafter get coach Umar Danlami’s praise.
“I’m pleased with him because I knew him right from time and I knew his ability.
“I knew injecting him into the team will add up to our attack. He’s quite a young player…this is his first premier game…He started in the NNL with Kada City before the Covid-19 break.
“It is really good for him and this will make him feel that he is equal to the task.”
Danlami further attributed his side’s comeback against the Port Harcourt club to determination.
“I think it’s just sheer character. It’s a team that we all know is a bunch of youthful and exuberant young boys. Some times they play too casual; but I think all those early goals use to sit them up because they know what it feels to lose a match. It’s a character that we’ve built overtime.”
The Uyo club, who sit eighth on the log with 29 points from 19 games, wil continue their campaign with a visit to Rivers United in the reverse fixture on Sunday, as the season enters the second half.
