Simeon Nwankwo nets 16th Serie A goal of the season as Crotone lose against Spezia

Simeon Nwankwo scored for the sixth game running in the Serie A as Crotone let a 2-1 lead slip away to lose 3-2 against Spezia at Stadio Alberto Picco.
The striker — overlooked by Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr in recent times — found the back of the net to take his Serie A goal tally to 16 for the season and nine in the last six games.
Nwankwo scored in the 78th minute to put the Sharks back in front after Daniele Verde had cancelled Koffi Djidji’s opener, but late goals from Giulio Maggoire and Martin Erlic turned the game in Spezia’s favour.

The away side took the lead in the 40th minute thanks to Cote d’Ivoire international Djidji, who chested a pass before volleying past goalkeeper Ivan Provedel and into the back of the net.
Verde levelled things up 18 minutes after the break from a tight angle. The strike was historic for the forward as it meant he scored in successive games for the first time in his Serie A career.
Barely 15 minutes later, Serse Cosmi side regained the lead through Nwankwo, who tucked home from close range after he was picked out by Niccolo Zanellato.

But Spezia turned the game on its head in the final minutes to win 3-2 — with Maggiore putting his side back on level terms in the 89th minute after managing to stay onside, and Erlic grabbing the winner in stoppage time.
The Croat headed in from close range after Albania international Adrian Ismajli’s header rebounded off the crossbar, to condemn Crotone to a fourth straight defeat and 23rd of the campaign.
