Victor Osimhen fires blanks in Napoli’s big win against Genoa

Victor Osimhen provided an assist in Napoli’s 6-0 victory over Genoa on Sunday, which moved Gli Azzurri to the summit of the Serie A table.
Making his full debut for the club, the Nigerian worked so hard to help his team win the Serie A tie but could not get his name on the scoresheet.
However, Osimhen — who played his first game for the club last week, when he came on s a substitute in the 2-0 victory at Parma — provided an assist for the second goal as Genarro Gattuso’s men humiliated the Griffins at San Paolo Stadium.
 
The 21-year-old played the entirety of the game, picking up a booking for dissent in added time.
Barely a minute into the second half, the record signing backheeled the ball to Piotr Zielinski, who took a touch before firing in to double Napoli’s lead, after the Naples side had taken the lead in the first half through Hirving Lozano ‘s close-range finish.
Belgian forward Dries Mertens increased the advantage to 3-0 on 57 minutes and then set up Lozano to score his second of the evening and Napoli’s fourth, before Elif Elmas and Matteo Politano both scored to complete the rout.
Napoli, who were forced to replace their inspirational captain Lorenzo Insigne after 22 minutes due to suspected muscle strain, made it two wins in two matches.
 
Gattuso’s side will be hoping to preserve their 100 per cent record when they face champions Juventus at Allianz Stadium on October 4.
