NPFL: AKWA SIGN ALIMI FROM PILLARS

Federation Cup winners Akwa United have captured Jamiu Alimi from Kano Pillars.
The Promise Keepers, who face Enyimba FC on Sunday in the league, have also added Nigeria international Ifeanyi Ede, Mathew Boniface and Ayobami Asekunowo to their squad.
Ede — one of the key figures in Nigeria’s 2014 CHAN campaign — joins the Uyo club from Omani club, Al-Nasr; Boniface signs from Bulgarian top-division side, Beroe Stars Zagora; while Asekunowo moves to Obio Etoi after leaving Wikki Tourists.
Akwa, still reeling their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup, will be aiming to further strengthen their squad before the close of the mid-season transfer window, as they focus on winning the league.
Maikaba’s side are expected to re-sign Ezekiel Bassey from Irani side, Paykan FC.
