UMUAHIA TOWNSHIP STADIUM UNFIT FOR LEAGUE MATCHES, SAYS LMC
Umuahia club Abia Warriors have been banned from hosting league games at their home ground due to the terrible state of the playing surface.
The League Management Company (LMC) took the decision following complaints about the quality of the turf at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
The Abia club have been asked not to hold any activities at the stadium during the period of the ban, which begins from matchday 10.
Furthermore, Emmanuel Deutsche’s side have been advised to use the period to fix the turf.
Warriors — just like Heartland, Yobe Desert Stars and Niger Tornadoes, whose home grounds have been handed similar bans — are to nominate alternative home grounds.
The LMC revealed in a statement that pitch inspections will be held “upon completion of work” to determine if the stadiums can continue to hold league matches this season.
