Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu scored and set up two goals to help KAA Gent defeat S.V. Zulte Waregem 5-2 in a Jupiler Playoff 1 on Thursday.
Kalu scored his side’s third and provided the assist for the second and last goals.
Nigeria international Moses Simon missed the match through injury, but Kalu’s other compatriots at the club Anderson Esiti and William Troost-Ekong also featured in the important win.
With the result, Gent secured a UEFA Europa League spot. However, they will qualify for the UEFA Champions League if they win in Sunday’s last playoff match at second-placed Club Brugge K.V.
