Ajibade’s double and an assist inspires Atlético Madrid to a 4-0 win at Valencia
Rasheedat Ajibade scored twice and also assisted her teammate in Atletico Madrid’s 4-0 thrashing of host Valencia in Spanish Liga F matchday three fixture on Sunday.
The visitors cruised to a 3-0 half-time lead, with Ajibade inspiring the game’s opener courtesy of an assist to Gabriela Garcia in the 15th minute, as the Venezuelan midfielder timed her run to finish off her low cross from the right.
Sheila Guijarro added a second on the 26th minutes via a header, off Fiamma Benitez’ freekick in the six-yard box.
Minutes later, Ajibade drove in a powerful right-footed shot from the edge of the six-yard box after receiving a lofty pass from Vilde Bøe Risa, as Victor Martin’s side went into the break with a 3-0 lead.
The home side made some tactical changes and tried to get close to the opponent’s final third, but non of its six shots in the second period could beat captain Lola Gallardo in Atletico’s post.
Despite not being as threatening as in the first half, Atlético still found a way to hit the fourth, as Ajibade slot in a deflected effort in the penalty area, to complete her brace in stoppage time, taking her goal contribution this season to four, following her assist against Granada on matchday one.
Ajibade recovered three balls from the opponent, delivered six passes into the final third, made two successful dribbles, and registered three shots on target, to cap a superb afternoon for the former FC Robo Queens’ striker.
