Bayelsa United drawn against Ashanti Golden Boys in Confederation Cup first round

Bayelsa United have been drawn to play Guinean club Ashanti Golden Boys in the Confederation Cup first round.
Grouped alongside the likes of Buffles and Anglogold in Pot 1 for Friday’s draw at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, the Yenagoa side have been paired against the Siguiri-based club.
Bayelsa United will play the Guinee Championat National side home and away, with Golden Boys scheduled to host the first meeting.
The Nigeria National League club sealed a place in the competition following their Aiteo Cup triumph. They beat Nasarawa United 4-3 on penalties in the final after a thrilling 2-2 draw. And on their way to the final, they defeated top-flight sides Rivers United, Lobi Stars and Enugu Rangers.
Nigeria have two representatives in the competition, but only Bayelsa United will be involved in this stage, after Enyimba were exempted.
The Aba club are one of the 13 clubs that have received a first-round bye.
First leg action will hold between September 10 and 12, and the second leg the following week.
