Uchenna Kanu nets eighth Damallsvenskan goal of the season in Linköpings’ 3-0 victory at Djurgarden
Nigeria women’s team striker Uchenna Kanu scored her eighth Damallsvenskan goal of the season as Linköpings earned a 3-0 win at Djurgarden on Saturday.
Kanu finished off Alva Selerud’s pass in the 71st minute to seal the victory for Olof Unogård’s team after a brace from Frida Leonhardsen-Maanum had put the visitors 2-0 up.
The hosts controlled the early stages and nearly took the lead in the 29th minute through Olivia Schouhg, whose freekick crashed against the crossbar.
Few minutes after Schouhg’s threat, Linköpings responded — taking the lead through Frida Leonhardsen Maanum five minutes before the break.
The visitors continued to press in the closing minutes of the first-half and nearly doubled their lead with Maanum’s freekick.
Maanum continued where she left off in the opening half and she needed just five minutes to get her second of the game, finding the right bottom from outside the box after being set up by Selerud.
Kanu added the third with a strike off another assist from Selerud to end her four-match goal drought.
It was her second goal against Djurgarden in the Damallsvenskan this season, having scored in the reverse fixture on July 11.
Kanu played the entirety of the match, but her international team-mate Ebere Orji was replaced after 78 minutes.
