Nigeria goalkeeper Maduka Okoye completes move to Sparta Rotterdam

Nigeria international Maduka Okoye has joined Sparta Rotterdam from Fortuna Düsseldorf, the Eredivisie club announced on Monday.
The 20-year-old moves to The Castle on a two-year deal, with the Dutch club holding the option to extend the contract by a further two years.
Born in Düsseldorf to a Nigerian father and German mother, Okoye switches to Sparta after his contract at German fourth-tier club Fortuna Düsseldorf II expired last month.
Standing 6ft 6in, the goalkeeper made his Nigeria debut in November 2019, in a friendly against Brazil, which ended 1-1.
Sparta Rotterdam Director of Football Henk van Stee told the club’s official website shortly after the shot stopper was unveiled: “With Maduka we bring in a great talent, who has a lot of potential.
“He attracted interests of several clubs from different countries, but he believes he can take the next step at Sparta. We believe he can be of value to this club and are happy that he signed here.”
Okoye began his career at Bayer Leverkusen, before moving to Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2017.
In the 2019-20 season, he made 14 appearances for Flingeraner, keeping two clean sheets and conceding 26 goals.
