Raphael Onyedika receives first Nigeria call-up
Club Brugge’s Raphael Onyedika has been given his first Nigeria call-up as Jose Peseiro released a 25-man squad for this month’s friendly with Algeria.
The 21-year-old earns a place in the squad following an impressive start to the current season.
Expectedly, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been left out as he is unavailable through injury, but fellow Serie A player, Ola Aina, is included.
Hoffenheim defender Kevin Akpoguma, who’s been overlooked since November 2021, is back in the side.
The game with the Algerians is scheduled to be played in Oran on September 27.
The two sides, who failed to secure qualification for this year’s World Cup, last played against each other in a friendly on 9th October 2020.
Algeria won the fixture 1-0 through Ramy Bensebaini’s first-half strike.
