Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa re-signs for Kano Pillars
Kano Pillars have confirmed the signing of Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa, who has been without a club since October 2020.
Musa has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him play for Pillars for the rest of the season.
The 28-year-old returns to the northwest outfit for a second stinct, nearly eleven years after leaving the club for Dutch side VVV Venlo, who were plying their trade in the Eredivisie at the time.
“Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has sensationally returned to Kano Pillars FC for the remainder of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season,” the club announced on their website.
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, but it is understood that the contract includes a clause that would allow the star to leave at any point if a suitable offer arrives.

Musa spent nine years in Europe playing for VVV Venlo, CSKA Moscow and Leicester.
After four successful years in Russia, the World Cup star moved to Leicester City in 2016 for a fee of £16.6m, but failed to live up to expectations at the King Power Stadium, scoring just two goals in 21 Premier League appearances — and was sent back to CSKA on loan.
In 2018, Musa — who won four Russia Premier League titles with CSKA — joined Riyadh-based Al Nassr on a four-year deal.
But barely two years later, the Nigerian and Al Nassr parted ways on mutual consent.
After terminating his contract with Al Nassr, the forward reportedly said he wanted to return to European top-flight football, claiming his agent was negotiating with a number of clubs.
However, up until now the player has been unattached.
Despite being clubless since departing Al-Nassr, Musa was named in Nigeria’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Benin and Lesotho last month.
His inclusion in the 25-man squad attracted criticisms from far and wide.
