Paul Onuachu continues brilliant form with brace against Oostende

‏‌Paul Onuachu extended his scoring run to three games after netting a brace in Genk’s 2-2 draw with Oostende at Luminus Arena on Monday.
The striker — who was overlooked by Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr for the forthcoming friendlies with Algeria and Tunisia — netted his second consecutive brace in the Jupiler Pro League on Monday to take his tally to six for the season.
Onuachu had scored twice in the 3-1 victory against KV Mechelen last week, which ended Genk’s four-match winless run.
 
And on Monday, the former Midtjylland forward continued his brilliant form, cancelling out Cameron McGeehan’s third-minute opener before striking again early in the second half to give his side the lead.
 
North Ireland forward McGeehan put the visitors in front when he stabbed home a loose ball after goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt spilled a shot, but Oostende’s lead lasted for only six minutes — with Onuachu adjusting himself to nod Joakim Maehle’s cross beyond Guillaume Hubert to equalize.
 
On 29 minutes, Onuachu, 26, connected with another cross from Danish international Maehle but was denied by Hubert, who dived to push away the Nigerian’s volley.
 
Seven minutes after the break, though, Hubert could not stop the striker from getting his second of the evening — with Onuachu sending the ball into the bottom corner from the penalty spot following a handball incident.
 
Few minutes later, Genk were reduced to ten men after Bastien Toma’s reckless tackle.
 
But Oostende, despite the numerical disadvantage, equalized with seven minutes of normal time left to play to deservedly earn a point.
 
It was Senegalese striker Makhtar Gueye who rose above a sea of players to head a Jelle Bataille cross into the back of the net,  to break the hearts of Blauw-Wit fans.
