Desire Oparanozie completes move to Dijon

Nigeria Women’s World Cup star Desire Oparanozie has joined Division 1 Féminine club Dijon FCO on a two-year deal that will see her represent the club until 30 June 2022.
Dijon confirmed the arrival of the former Nigeria senior women’s team captain on Tuesday.
“Désiré #Oparanozie is Dijonnaise! The Nigerian international striker has signed up for 2 years!” the club announced on Twitter.
Oparanozie became a free agent in May after bringing down the curtain on her six-year Guingamp career.
On Tuesday, Oparanozie — who represented Nigeria at last year’s World Cup — completed a move to DFCO, who are strengthening their squad ahead of the 2020/2021 season.
The striker began her European club career with Turkish club Lüleburgaz 39 Spor in 2012, before moving to Russian side WFC Rossiyanka the following year.
After leaving Rossiyanka, she had stints at VfL Wolfsburg, Atasehir and Belediyespor, before joining En Avant Guingamp in 2014.
At Guingamp, she scored 45 goals in 106 Division 1 Arkema games.

The 26-year old was one of six players to be released by Guingamp in May, after the Division 1 Féminine prematurely ended due to coronavirus pandemic.
Dijon coach, Yannick Chandioux, believes the forward, who has netted 22 goals in 35 international matches, will help his side compete for laurels.
He said: “Each season, she has proven that she can score. She is used to D1, the type of player who will help the team to grow.”
Oparanozie, who spoke shortly after signing the contract, expressed her delight at the move.
“I am happy to start a new adventure after six years in Guingamp. I am delighted to be able to discover something else. I really like this club and the coach who has followed me for a long time and convinced me. I am very honored to sign at DFCO, ” said the two-time Africa Women’s Cup of Nations winner.
