Osimhen, Agent arrive in Naples ahead of proposed Napoli move

Nigeria and Lille forward Victor Osimhen has arrived in Naples with his agent ahead of an anticipated move to the Serie A side, according to Italian website GianlucadiMarzio.com.
Osimhen is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe, following an impressive season that saw him net 13 goals in 27 Ligue 1 matches and two in five Champions League games.
Recent reports have strongly linked the 21-year-old with a switch to the likes of AC Milan and Liverpool, but it now appears Napoli are closing in on the former U17 World Cup winner.
The 2020 Marc Vivien award recipient, whom Napoli Sporting Director, Giuntoli holds in high esteem, is expected to meet with the Serie A club’s management, to discuss his potential summer switch to the San Paolo Stadium.
Napoli chairman, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is reportedly desperate to add a promising young forward to Gennaro Gattuso’s squad, and Osimhen has emerged as the club’s top target.
GianlucadiMarzio.com claims that Osimhen, who was reportedly stuck in Lagos where he travelled to for his father’s funeral, will spend the night in the city of Naples to wrap up transfer talks with Gli Azzurri.
De Laurentiis is said to have accelerated negotiations over the transfer of the former Wolfsburg player yesterday.
Reports in Italy suggest that Napoli asked Osimhen and his representative to travel to Italy for a face-to-face meeting, after a deal could not be reached via videophone.
Osimhen’s visit to Naples, according to GianlucadiMarzio.com, could be “decisive”.
The €14m signing is still contracted to Lille, until 30 June 2024.
