NWAKALI COMPLETES MOVE TO FC PORTO

Portuguese second-tier side FC Porto B have agreed a season-long loan deal for Arsenal midfielder Kelechi Nwakali.

Arsenal, who signed the player in 2016, confirmed the transfer on their official website, writing: “Kelechi Nwakali will spend next season on loan with Portuguese side FC Porto.”
The move — the youngster’s third loan spell since arriving the London club — will run until June 30, 2018. Porto, though, have the option of making it permanent.
The 20-year-old sees his switch to the Dragon as an opportunity to evolve.
He said: “My main goal is to develop and evolve as a player. Improve my qualities and the other aspects that I know I need to correct to grow in the way I play. I think FC Porto is the right place to evolve as a player. There are good players, young people, and I think I’ll grow up here. I hope everything good from FC Porto.”
Kelechi, younger brother of Manchester City’s Chidiebere Nwakali, was voted as tournament’s best player of the U17 World Cup in 2015, in which his Nigeria side were crowned champions.
The 20-year-old joined Arsenal in the summer of 2016, before immediately joining MVV Maastricht on loan. During his time in the Eerste Divisie, the Nigeria international made 34 appearances, scoring three times.
Kelechi spent last season at Eredivisie side VVV Venlo – where he made 11 appearances and scored once.
