ONYEKA SCORES AS FC MIDTYJLLAND MOVE CLOSER TO DANISH TITLE

Midtyjlland edged closer to securing Champions League football for next season after a 2-0 victory at FC Copenhagen in the Danish Superliga Championship Playoff on Friday.

Nigerian youngster Ogochukwu Onyeka scored the opener — his second of the Playoffs.
Onyeka’s compartriot, Paul Onuachu had a half chance to score following a counterattack but miscued a shot. The ball, though, was deflected into the path of the 20-year old, who managed to control before firing past Robin Olsen in the Copenhagen goal.
Jess Thorup listed the Nigerian duo in the starting lineup, but neither finished the game. Onuachu was replaced after 79 minutes while Onyeka was on the pitch for 84 minutes. The other Nigerian at the club, Rilwan Hassan, didn’t make the matchday squad.
Midtyjlland are now only a game — Monday’s home tie against Horsens — away from being crowned Danish champions.
