LIGHT AT THE END OF TUNNEL FOR ONYEKURU AS EVERTON HAVE CHANCE TO OBTAIN WORK PERMIT

Henry Onyekuru’s hopes of playing in the English Premier League could become a reality following reports that Everton have a chance to obtain a work permit for the forward despite his omission from Nigeria squad for the World Cup.

The Merseyside club signed the Nigerian from Eupen last year but immediately loaned him out to Anderlecht for the season.
Though Anderlecht have an agreement with Everton to extend Onyekuru’s loan deal for another season, the player is undecided about continuing with the Belgian giants.


Now, the possibility of him turning out for Everton next season has not been ruled out. According to Belgian daily La Dienere Heure, Onyekuru could get a work permit to play in England this summer.
There were fears that missing out on the World Cup has jeopardized any chance of the player getting a work permit in England, but it has been claimed that Everton could still get the paperwork.

The €7m transfer fee Everton paid for Onyekuru, coupled with his appearances in the Champions League this season could be enough to get a work permit from the Home Office.


Onyekuru started the season brilliantly but a knee injury sustained on December 22 against former side Eupen kept him out of action for four months.


He hasn’t played a game since returning from injury, though he has been named on the Anderlecht bench twice.


According to Belgian outlet La Dienere Heure, the 20-year old was furious after being left out on the bench during Sunday’s Jupiler League Playoff 1 game at KAA Gent, and is very disappointed at not making Gernot Rohr’s World Cup list.


Latest reports from Germany suggest that the striker could be on his way to the Bundesliga, with interest from Borussia Mönchengladbach.


Onyekuru is also wanted by several other clubs in Europe. Two La Liga clubs and a top Ligue 1 outfit have already placed an offer for the speedster.
