FOREIGN LEGION: SIMI NETS SEVENTH SERIE GOAL

A late Sergej Milinkovic-Savic goal has left Crotone needing a result in their last Serie A game of the season — a trip to second-placed Napoli — and results elsewhere going their way, to secure their top-flight status.

Crotone were safe after taking a 2-1 lead through goals from Simeon ‘Simy’ Nwankwo and Federico Ceccherini, but Serbia international Savic scored six minutes from time to deny the hosts all three points, and send Walter Zenga’s men back to the bottom three.
Senad Lulic’s penalty had put the visitors in front before Simy scored his seventh league goal of the season and sixth in the last seven games, to put his side level. The Nigerian nodded home from close range.
Ceccherini’s strike just over the hour mark gave Crotone the lead and hopes of survival, but Slavic broke the hearts of hosts’ faithful when he controlled a pass, held off his marker before finding the bottom corner of the right post.
Spal, Cagliari, Udinese and Chievo also take their fight to stay up to the last day of the campaign, but it is Crotone who have the toughest fixture amongst the five still in danger, as they travel to Napoli.
