YOBE STARS HIT WITH N4.5M FINE, TO PLAY HOME GAMES BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

The League Management Company (LMC) have ordered Yobe Desert Stars to play their next three home games behind closed doors after their fans’ violent conduct during Sunday’s matchday 19 game against Kwara United in Damaturu.

The ban on fans is part of the club’s punishment after their fans hurled objects towards the pitch during the league game.
A statement by the LMC read: “Yobe Stars will play their next 3 home matches behind closed doors with the last 2 being suspended for a probationary period till end of this season.”
The club have also been hit with fines totalling ₦4.5m for breaches, including pitch invasion and assault on referee.
“For throwing objects towards the field of play, Yobe Stars have been fined N1 million.
“Yobe Stars will also pay N1m for encroachment immediately after the match.
“Yobe Stars, for failing to ensure adequate security for match officials, will pay N1m fine. Furthermore a payment of N250,000 as compensation will be made to the assaulted referee.
“For conduct of their officials capable of bringing the league to disrepute, Yobe Stars will pay a fine of N1m.”
Furthermore, Desert Stars will have three points deducted from their accrued points if they commit a similar offence.
The club, who are in their first season in the top flight, have been given “48 hours from the date of notice to appeal to the sanctions.”
