ONYEKURU LIKELY TO MISS WORLD CUP
Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru could miss next year’s World Cup after scans confirmed he suffered a medial ligament injury in Anderlecht’s 1-0 win over former club Eupen on Friday.
The 20-year old on-loan Everton forward, who was taken off in a stretcher in the 78th minute, faces surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation — meaning his hopes of making Nigeria’s squad for Russia 2018 are shattered.
His injury comes as a blow to Anderlecht, who sit third in Belgium’s top flight.
Onyekuru cost Everton £6.8million in the summer.
He is Anderlecht’s top scorer this season, with nine league goals.
