WORLD CUP: ENGLAND LINE UP FRIENDLY WITH NIGERIA

England will play Nigeria in a friendly match as part of their preparations for next year’s World Cup.
According to reports, the Three Lions plan to face African opposition as well as a team from south America ahead of their opening clash with Tunisia in Volgograd on June 18.
Apart from Gernot Rohr’s side, The Football Association considered playing Ghana or Senegal, who they could face in the Round of 16. However, Nigeria was chosen, with their relative popularity believed to have influenced the decision.
No official announcement has yet been made, but reports say the FA will formally announce the potentially thrilling game once their second June friendly has been confirmed.
Nigeria and England have met twice – on November 16, 1994 and June 12, 2017. The clash in 1994 – a friendly – saw Nigeria lose 1-0 at Wembley, while the other, which was a 2002 World Cup group game, ended goalless.
