A handful of Nigerians were in action during the Europa League matchday 3 held on Thursday.
We take a look at how they fared.
•John Ogu & Anthony Nwakaeme (Hapoel Be’er Sheva)
Nigeria internationals John Ogu and Anthony Nwakeme both started for Sheva, who lost 2-1 at home. Unfortunately, Ogu could not finish the match, as he was forced off the pitch with an injury after 22 minutes.
Patrick Olayinka & Kingsley Madu (Waregem)
Patrick Olayinka was on the pitch for the entirety of the match, as Waregem and Eredivisie side Vitesse played out a 1-1 draw.
His compatriot, Kingsley Madu -a Nigeria international – was an unused substitute.
Patrick Friday & Imoh Ezekiel (Konyaspor)
Super Lig club Konyaspor lost 2-0 at home to Salzburg. Former Standard Liege forward Imoh Ezekiel was a second-half substitute. His compatriot, Patrick Friday started the game but was replaced on 62 minutes.

Alhaji Gero (Ostersunds)
Former Kano Pillars striker Alhaji Gero scored his second Europa League goal of the season in the 2-2 draw with Athletico Bilbao, helping the Swedish side maintain an unbeaten run in the competition.
Gero cancelled Aritz Aduriz’s first-half strike, Curtis Edwards’ 20-yard volley gave Ostersunds the lead, but Inaki Williams’ stoppage-time strike ensured a share of the spoils.
•Samuel Adegbenro (Rosenborg)
Zenith St Petersburg made the most of home support, as they beat Rosenborg 3-1.
Samuel Adegbenro was replaced 10 minutes to end of normal time.
Argentine striker Emiliano Rigoni had fired the Russian side into a 3-0 lead with an hat-trick. Adegbenro’s replacement, Andre Elland, scored a late consolation.
•Ibrahim Alhassan (Austria Wien)
Austria Wien were defeated 3-1 at home by Croatian side Rijeka.
Nigeria international Ibrahim Alhassan was an unused substitute for the home side.
•Ubong Ekpai (Zlin)
FC Copenhagen forced hosts Zlin to a 1-1 draw.
Ubong Ekpai provided the assist for Zlin’s goal.
The former Akwa United man was on the pitch from start to finish.
