ROHR NAMES SQUAD FOR QUALIFIER AGAINST SA, MFM FC DUO OMITTED

Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has announced a 23-man squad for Nigeria’s AFCON 2019 qualifier against South Africa, which will hold next month.

Akwa United’s sensational midfielder Alhassan Ibrahim has been named in the squad but NPFL top scorer Stephen Odey and his club team-mate Sikiru Olatunbosun miss out.
All of Super Eagles players who made moves to China in January – namely Mikel Obi, Brown Ideye and Odion Ighalo – are also omitted from the list.
Winger Henry Onyekuru, who is reportedly close to joining English FA Cup winners Arsenal, was called up after finishing the Jupiler season well with KAS Eupen.
The 23 includes three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders and seven forwards.
The match is scheduled for June 10 at the Nest of Champions, Uyo.
