DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR AKWA UNITED AS ALHASSAN AND MAIKABA EARN PLAYER AND COACH OF THE MONTH AWARDS FOR APRIL
Akwa United duo Abdu Maikaba and Ibrahim Alhassan have been rewarded for the Promise Keepers’ remarkable form in April by winning the League Bloggers coach and player of the month awards.
The Uyo side took maximum points from their April fixtures to climb to fifth on the log. They opened the month with a 4-2 home victory over Shooting Stars. That was followed by a shock 1-0 win at Kano Pillars and a 2-0 triumph over high-flying MFM FC.
Alhassan was the star for the club, netting four times, including a hat-trick against Shooting Stars.
Maikaba started his Akwa United career poorly, picking up just three points from the opening six fixtures. The former Wikki Tourists coach has, however, turned things around and his side have moved to within six points of leaders Plateau United.
