MATCHDAY TEAM NEWS
Dolphins’ Ifeanyi Egwim, Victor Ezuruike and Emmanuel Olowo return to the starting line up for today’s game against Sharks after missing out on last week’s draw in Akure against Sunshine.
Goalkeeper, Pius Ibrahim is a shock inclusion in the squad as he has not been named in a Dolphins team since May, 31, 2014 when Dolphins beat Lobi Stars 3-1 at the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium.
Pius Ibrahim will start on the bench as Austin Brown got a knock in training during the week
Chigozie Ihunda, also named in the match day squad for the first time since July 17 in the Federation Cup Round of 16 game against ElKanemi in Lafia. He as an unused substitute on the day. Ihunda last made a match day squad in the League on June 14, in the 3-1 road loss to Kano Pillars. Incidentally, Chigozie Ihunda’s first ever league game was for Dolphins against Sharks last season which ended goaless.
Sharks have left out centre-back Ezekiel Michael. Fortune Omoniwari and Tayo Fabiyi have been sidelined by ill-health. Former U20 star, Yinka Adedeji is also missing from the squad.
Abia Warriors have travelled without their captain and centre-back, Chima Uluocha, to face the champions. He played through the pain barrier in the Abia Derby and has been left out to recuperate from the knock.
Pillars striker, Gambo Mohammed continues to remain on the sidelines injured. Ezekiel Mbah recovers from injury in time & starts. Former Flying Eagles defender Kingsley Udoh starts from the bench today.
Crown captain, Ayo Segun, returns to his team’s match day squad for the first time in 17 days. The Daniel brothers, Tunde and Bode, make the starting line-up.
Gombe United are without Philip Asuquo who is suspended while Super Eagles keeper, Chigozie Agbim continues in goal.
First ever Wonder Goal Award of the Glo Premier League will be presented today at the Akure Township Stadium to Rangers forward and Super Eagles invitee, Christian Osaguona Ighodaro .
Osaguona’s goal against Kano Pillars in Rangers 2-1 win was selected for the inaugural edition of the Wonder Goal Awards series. He will receive N100, 000 and will donate 50% to a local charity of his choice to be named during the award presentation.
League Management Company (LMC) instituted the Wonder Goal Awards as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) initiatives to deepen Clubs’ Community engagement and recognise the circumstances, individual and collective qualities of some of the spectacular goals scored this season
