NNL re-start suffers second postponement

Nigeria National League, which was slated to restart on Saturday, has been pushed back due to unresolved issues.
The Nigerian second-tier league embarked on a two-week break in December and was due to restart on January 10. However, action could not resume after the Nigeria Football Federation, the NNL and other stakeholders failed to resolve some pending issues.
“The latest decision [not to restart the league] is necessitated by the current discussions between the NNL management and relevant authorities of the parent body, the Nigeria Football Federation, the NFF on crucial and critical issues raised by NNL club owners, proprietors and managers meeting held in Abuja,which has been communicated to the NNL,” an NNL statement said.
Following the postponement, Friday March 14 was put forward as the new resumption date.
But on Thursday, the NNL announced that the re-start of the league has for the second time been pushed back.

“Due to circumstances beyond the Nigeria National League based on caustic situation bedeviling Nigerian football, we hereby humbly inform all NNL clubs and followers that the proposed date of Friday, 14th March 2020 for restarting the league is no longer feasible,” said an official statement.
No new date has been given for the resumption, but the NNL added “We’re leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the league starts soonest”.
