World Cup play-off: Nigeria drawn with Ghana

Nigeria will face a two-legged play-off against Ghana in the final round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
CAF 2022 World Cup play-off draw, staged in Douala on Saturday, paired the three-time AFCON winners with the Black Stars, who failed to make it past the group stages of the ongoing AFCON tournament in Cameroon.

The Super Eagles, who play Tunisia in the AFCON 2021 last-16 on Sunday, are seeking a fourth straight appearance — and seventh overall — at the finals.
They will now have to overcome their west African rivals — who missed out on the 2018 edition after qualifying for three consecutive tournaments — over two legs to reach the finals, which will hold in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December.
The play-off will also see Sadio Mane square off against his Liverpool team-mate Mohammed Salah, after Senegal were drawn against Egypt.
Tunisia have been handed a massive opportunity to avenge their 2021 AFCON 1-0 loss to Mali — which was marred by controversial refereeing decisions — as they’ve been paired with the west African side.
Either current African champions Algeria or 2021 AFCON hosts Cameroon will miss out on the 2022 World Cup, after the pair were drawn against each other.
Morocco are widely tipped to earn a second straight qualification — and a third appearance since 1998 — following their pairing with DR Congo, who failed to qualify for the 2021 AFCON.
