Ifeanyi Eze overjoyed by debut Pillars goal

Kano Pillars forward Ifeanyi Eze says he’s delighted to have scored the winner in Sai Masu Gida’s comeback victory over Enyimba on Sunday.
The winger joined the Kano club in April after leaving Akwa United, where he was rarely given opportunities.
Eze made his Pillars debut in the 1-1 draw at Warri Wolves on May 9, and netted his first goal for the club on Sunday.
Coming off the bench, the 22-year-old scored to help Ibrahim Musa’s side claim a 2-1 win over fellow title-contenders Enyimba at Ahmadu Bello Stadium.

 
Rabiu Ali converted a penalty six minutes into the second half to cancel out Victor Mbaoma’s early strike, before Eze struck to earn the Kano club all three points in the Nigeria Professional Football League match.
Eze finished off a beautiful team move in the 74th minute. Nyima Nwagua latched onto a long pass at the far side and then cut inside before finding Eze, who took a touch before stabbing home from six yards.

Immediately after hitting the back of the net, Eze ran to the Pillars bench — and the celebrations thereafter were electrifying.
The former Ifeanyi Ubah player said his happiness after scoring against the People’s Elephant was beyond words.
“The feeling was indescribable,” Eze told 234football.
He added: “At that moment, it felt like everything went blank. I was happy that I was able to score in such a big game and that we also grabbed the three points.”
The victory helped Pillars regain top spot. Musa’s side are now two points clear of Eze’s former employers Akwa United — now second — who were made to settle for a share of the spoils at Wikki Tourists.
