CAF Women’s Champions League: NWFL Premiership decides to end season early

Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership season will be brought to a conclusion after round 13 matches following a meeting between all 14 clubs and the league body on Monday.
The campaign was due to end on July 17 but given that the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers will begin in May, an agreement has been reached for the season to end early — with play-offs held to determine the league champions and two relegated teams.

The top six teams after round 13 matches — all scheduled to hold on Wednesday — will participate in a play-off to decide the league winners, while the bottom four clubs will engage in a relegation play-off.

The winners will go on to represent Nigeria in the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers (West African Zone), while the bottom two will drop into the Nigeria Women’s Football League Championship.
Dates and venues for the two play-offs will be decided later.
Meanwhile, in what, for many, is the biggest game of the season, favourites Bayelsa Queens — who sit five points clear at the top of the table — will meet fellow title hopefuls Rivers Angels at University of Port Harcourt Sports Complex today.
Elsewhere, Dreamstar Ladies play Confluence Queens while Royal Queens face Delta Queens.
