Kelechi Nwakali’s Huesca gain promotion to La Liga

Huesca have secured an automatic promotion to La Liga after Friday’s home win against Numancia, which guaranteed them at least a second-place finish in La Liga2.
With just a game left to play in the Spanish second division, Oscenses — with 67 points — are only two points behind leaders Cadiz.
The Aragon-based club made their first appearance in the Spanish toplight in the 2018-19 second.
The following season, they were relegated. But after just one season in the La Liga2, the Estadio El Alcoraz side are back in the elite division.
A brace from Rafael Mir and a Shinji Okazaki handed Miguel Muñoz’s a 3-0 victory against Rojillos.
The win earned Huesca — who featured former Nigeria U23 captain Kelechi Nwakali for two minutes — an instant return to La Liga.
The other automatic promotion was already picked by Cadiz before Friday’s round of matches.
Cadiz, like Huesca, have a Nigerian — Saturday Erimuya — in their squad.

While Nwakwli came on for the final five minutes, Erimuya was an unused substitute.
Both places have been bit-part players for their respective clubs.
Signed by Arsenal in 2016 following an impressive outing at the 2015 U17 World Cup, Nwakali never played for the Gunners.
After loan spells at VVV-Venlo, Maastricht and Porto B, the 22-year-old penned a three-year deal with Huesca in September 2019.
The move to Aragon was thought to be exactly what the midfielder needed, back in his home country.
However, Nwakali has struggled for game time — featuring for only 61 minutes all season.
The Diamond Academy Alumnus has made just four appearances all season.
