Rivers Angels deny claims Oluehi and Nwabuoku have joined CD Pozoalbense

Nigeria Women’s Football League club Rivers Angels have dismissed claims that Nigeria senior women’s football team stars Tochukwu Oluehi and Evelyn Nwabuoku have joined Spanish side CD Pozoalbense.
A Pozoalbense statement on Wednesday claimed Oluehi had completed her move to the Segunda División Femenina club.
“We present to you the latest signing of our First Team, goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi. At 33, she is at her best. [She is] experienced, mentally very strong and a great leader,” the club wrote on their Facebook page.
A number of outlets Nigeria claimed that Pozoalbense had also signed the goalkeeper’s international team-mate, Nwabuoku.
However, Rivers Angels have refuted those claims, saying they’ve not been contacted by Pozoalbense nor their representatives over the transfers of the pair who represented Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“This is to inform the general public that news making the rounds about two of our players; Evelyn Nwabuoku and Tochukwu Oluehi signing for a Spanish Reto Iberdrola club Pozoalbense is misleading and inaccurate,” the Port Harcourt side stated.
“As of Thursday July 9, 2020, Nwabuoku and Oluehi remain bonafide players of Rivers Angels FC with existing contracts with us.
“Neither the said club nor its representatives have contacted anyone from here and hearing that they have announced the signing of our players is highly disrespectful and unethical.
“If and when both players secure any deals from teams in Europe, Rivers Angels FC will most definitely communicate it to the world via our various platforms but for now, neither has signed anything with anyone.
“We urge everyone to take note of this statement intended to set things right as they should be,” they concluded.
Neither player has responded to the controversy, but it appears both of them are seeking a return to European football.
Oluehi, who’s been to three World Cups, has had spells at Belarusian side Bobruichanka Bobruisk and Norwegian Toppserien club Medkila.
Nwabuoku, on the other hand, had a stint with Kazakhstani side BIIK Kazygurt, before a spell at French club Guingamp.
