SUPER EAGLES WATCH: AGU RETURNS
Mikel Agu was back in action for Bursaspor on Saturday after missing seven weeks through injury.
The midfielder was on the pitch from start to finish, as the Green Crocodiles and Genclerbirligi played out a 1-1 draw at the Timsah Arena.
Agu, 24, picked up a knock in a Super Lig fixture at Kasimpasa on November 4. He returned to full training only last week after undergoing an arthroscopic menisectomy surgery on his right knee in November, and was not expected to start the matchday 17 fixture.
However, coach Paul Le Guen named the midfielder, who has scored two league goals since his summer move to the club from FC Porto, in the starting line-up, underscoring the importance of the Nigerian in the team.
Petar Skuletic gave the away side the lead but a strike from Brazillian centre-back Cristian ‘Titi’ Tarouco ensured a share of the spoils.
Agu’s international team-mate William Troost-Ekong also featured for Bursaspor.
