NIGERIAN TRIO IN CHINESE SUPER LEAGUE CLASH
Nigeria’s Tianjin Teda duo John Obi Mikel and Brown Ideye will square up against Odion Ighalo’s Changchun Yatai at the Teda Football Stadium in a Chinese Super League matchday 25 clash on Friday afternoon.
Ighalo, who is Changchun’s leading scorer, has featured 22 times for Chen Jingang’s side, scoring 11 times.
Super Eagles captain, Mikel, was kept out of the Teda team for three months through injury. He has started six games for Teda this season, scoring once – a 48th minute opener in a 2-0 home win over Chongqing Dangdai Lifan in April.
Mikel’s international team-mate and striker at Teda, Brown Ideye is the club’s leading scorer with four goals in 14 caps for the Uli Stielike men.
Relegation-threatened Teda are placed 15th – one place above bottom side Yanbian in the 16-team league, with a paltry 16 points from 23 matches, while Changchun are 10th on the log with 28 points from 24 matches.
