​NWPFL: HEARTLAND QUEENS HUMILIATED BY IBOM ANGELS

Ibom Angels recorded their second win of the season on Wednesday, after they cruised to a resounding 4-0 victory over Heartland Queens at West Itam Sports Centre.
Emem Essien’s double and strikes from Blessing Dabrinze and Charity Reuben helped the Uyo side move two points clear of relegation zone.
Angels dominated the game and played some fantastic football, as well as energetically pressing the visitors, who struggled to cope with their pace and movement.
Essien provided the opener, as she nodded in Glory Ogbonna’s freekick past Maryann Akin at the near post after 12 minutes and Dabrinze capitalized on a mixup to tap in, thus giving her side a 2-0 lead going into the break. 
After the interval, league’s top scorer Charity Reuben slammed home a volley after Maryann Akin spilled substitute Uduakobong Peter’s dangerous freekick into her path, and Emem Essien scored a potential goal of the season to put the game beyond the visitors.
Other than three occasions where goalkeeper Lucky Andy came off her goal line to deal with threats- first, ensuring that Glory Sunday did not make any meaningful contact with captain Eunice Ujunwa’s cross- and Ndidi Okereke forcing Andy into a save with a  freekick, the hosts were largely untroubled.
In truth, it could have been more than four for Ogbonda Whyte’s side, who tested Akin in the Heartland goal all evening. Reuben saw her long range effort pushed into the side netting by Akin, narrowly missed target with a brilliant chip, before seeing a half volley drag wide. Dabrinze’s early second-half chance went into the side netting and Essien headed straight at the Heartland goalkeeper from close range.
The biggest talking point from the game was undoubtedly Essien’s second-half screamer – a volley from 30 yards out, which sailed past Akin and into the back of the net•
