AKWA STARLETS' UCHE MICHAEL DELIGHTED AFTER FIRST GOAL

Akwa Starlet Football Club centreback, Uche Michael said he was delighted after scoring his team’s first goal from open play in a 3-0 win over AS Racines on Saturday, April 1, at Uyo Township Stadium.

The tall defender rose above his opponents to nod in Aniekeme Asuquo’s cornerkick in the 42 minutes for the opener.
Samuel Akpan, added a second  two minutes later to cap a dominating first half for Akwa Starlet.
Eighteen minutes into the second half, Edem Akanatang scored a beauty – his second of the season – to put the final scoreline at 3-0.
Speaking to 234football, Uche  reveals his target is to win the league.
“Seriously, i was very excited and the fact that we won the game made it very special for me.
“My target is for us to win the league and with dedication, hardwork and God’s making, it is
possible.
“For now this win will give us (the players) the confident and also make the fans to believe in us,” he said.
The win (against AS Racines) was Starlets first win after enduring three consecutive draws against UNICEM Rovers (H), Abia Comets (A) and Warri Wolves (H).
Akwa Starlets boosts of former Niger Tornadoes midfielder, Godwin Inamoto, former Akwa United goalkeeper, Idongesit Peter, defender, Nicholas Joseph and forward, Michael Ikpe.
Others are; former U17 international, Edidiong Essien and young forward, Wisdom Fernando.
